New to coin collecting? Some advice on
caring for your precious coin collection :
Coins must be stored in plastic pockets which are specially made
for coin collectors. They are available individually and in
sheets made to place in albums. This will protect the coins from
exposure to the elements. Try not to scratch or mar them through
mishandling. For coins which have been through years of
circulation, their copper surfaces are subjected to wear and
tear. Hence cleaning of such coins must be
properly done using products such as ammonia, vinegar, rubbing
alcohol or lemon juice or other professional cleaning solutions.
Any cleaning of coins will potentially affect their value and
hence when in doubt, leave the coins as is and consult a
professional coin dealer for advice.
